Jan 18, 2016 Typically quartz would be lapped using a cast iron lap tool with aluminium oxide or silicon carbide in oil as the abrasive. This generates a uniform matt finish. Polishing if required would be with something like a PSU-M polishing pad and cerium oxide in water as an abrasive. This gives a perfect clear and flat finish.
